Coach Sven-Goran Eriksson dropped Argentine-born striker Guillermo Franco of Villarreal when he named a 23-man squad for Mexico's 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™ qualifiers against Jamaica and Canada next month.
Defender Edgar Castillo of Mexican champions Santos Laguna was also dropped from the 25-man squad Eriksson picked to face Honduras in their first match in Group B of the third qualifying round on 20 August.
Former England coach Eriksson's team beat Honduras 2-1 at the Azteca in his competitive debut with Mexico.
Mexico are away to Jamaica on 6 September and at home to Canada four days later.
The top two teams in each of the three four-nation groups will go through to the final six-team round-robin next year from which three will qualify for the 2010 finals in South Africa while the nation finishing fourth plays off against the fifth-placed team in South America.
