Dalton High School hosted the Area 7 Air Rifle Match this past 26th of
January. Dalton competed against Ringgold and Cass High School. Long time
members of the Dalton High School Varsity Rifle Team include Luis Briones,
Hallie Perry, Vanessa Gonzalez, Ricardo Barrientos, and Caleb Pierce. The
newer members include Danielle Thomas, Maria Canales, Nathaniel Granados,
Jay George, and Mario Trejo. The Executive Officer Luis Briones shot the
highest score of all during the match against Ringgold. Dalton first
competed against Ringgold with Luis Briones shooting 283, Caleb Pierce
shooting 280, Hallie Perry shooting 279, Vanessa Gonzalez shooting 265,
Ricardo Barrientos shooting 260, and first time shooter Danielle Thomas
shooting 197. Ringgold and Cass High School then competed against each
other. Afterwards Dalton competed against Cass and had Hallie Perry and
Caleb Pierce tied with shooting a 277, Luis Briones shooting 276, Ricardo
Barrientos shooting 268, Vanessa Gonzalez shooting 253, and first time
shooter Jay George shot 199. The Rifle Team has had a winning streak due to
all the members’ dedication, practice, and hard work. The Rifle Team is
looking forward to their next match February 2nd at home against Murray
County and Lafayette.
