The candidates for Dalton mayor expressed their principal proposals before Latinos within the Candidate Forum, event realized at the offices of the Coalition of Latino Leaders better known as CLILA. The candidate forum took place this past Wednesday October 19th and both David Pennington and Joel Goldberg punctually attended the forum. The forum began at 6:30 as was reported and began with an opening prayer, the presentation of the candidates with their principal proposals and a series of questions.
The first to speak was David Pennington the current mayor of Dalton and he began by talking about some of the accomplishments of his administration, the remodeling of some historic buildings and recreation parks as well as having reduced the local taxes since after Atlanta, Dalton is the second most elevated tax city in Georgia and it is now the one with the lowest since it is precisely the tax rate which is a factor that influences why businesses want to come to our city.
Pennington manifested that if he were reelected he would reduce local taxes to 5% that is 5 cents of taxes. Upon lowering taxes, people could count on more money and it would be an attraction point for industries. Pennington manifested that during the last four years he has attended all of the calls by the Latino community.
When it was Joel Goldberg’s turn, he appreciated the presence of the forum attendees and manifested the importance of voting this next November 8th. For Goldberg, upon being elected he would look to create jobs, increase the carpet industry and diversify by possibly impulsing the automotive industry.
