the traditional Homecoming week from Dalton High School took place from October 17th to the 21st. The election of the queen is one of the most emotional events. The Student Council is in charge of organizing everything related to the election and coronation of the queen and her court. The president of the Student Council Hira Qureshi and the vice president Rosa Moreno were given the hard job of coordinating all of the details for the gracious ceremony. This past Monday, October 17th in the morning at the Catamounts gymnasium the final vote was made known and the elected sovereign from DHS is the young lady, Anniz Arroyo. The principal of the high school Professor Debbie Freeman crowned the emotional ambassador to conclude the program conducted by the students Courtney Morton and David Torres. Another tradition realized was the decoration of the houses of the varsity American football team on behalf of the members of the “Pep Club” and the Catamount cheerleaders. On Thursday, October 20th afternoon the homes of the Catamount players were decorated with the distinctive colors (red, black and white). Friday, October 21st is the most awaited by the students of Dalton High School. The fantastic “pep session” celebration takes place in the Catamounts gymnasium to then move to the streets of Dalton city and enjoy the Homecoming 2011 parade. The musical band lead the parade with happy melodies and the JROTC cadets marched solemnly to give a lot of color to the event. The parade was presided and begun by the Superintendent of Dalton Public Schools Dr. Jim Hawkins and the Principal of the school Professor Debbie Freeman.
