The law firm “Gantt & Associates, LLC” conducted a free seminar on mortgage loans at the Dalton Community Center this past Sunday, January 29th afternoon. Mrs. Magda Garcia, media specialist and customer service for Gantt & Associates LLC gave a formal professional, clear and precise presentation, in which she focused on giving information regarding the modification of mortgage loans, prevention and stopping of home repossessions. Mrs. Garcia gave a lot of information on the causes that have generated thousands of families to have problems in paying their mortgage loans. The changes in the economy, inflation and unemployment that have hit Georgia and placed it in the 4th place on the national level with regards to home repossession by banks and mortgage loan companies. She also urged the public that attended to be very careful about modifying their home loan. “After the fall of lst year the only mortgage loan modifications that are legal are those presented by lawyers or loan originators, do not let yourselves be fooled by persons that counsel you to get behind on your monthly payments to get a lower monthly payment.” Magda Garcia commented that in various cities in Georgia there have been cases where someone arrives home, finds a paper on the door that asks you to call a telephone number to a supposed bank or loan company, when the person calls that number they are asked to send instead of sending their regular monthly thousand dollar payment to the bank to send only five hundred dollars to another bank or company” because they are helping to reduce or have already reduced the monthly payment of their house. People need to understand that no bank will send someone to their home to stick papers on their home, they will communicate with their clients
